About the History Walk
The walk will begin at the iconic New Palace, a landmark that holds immense importance in Kolhapur’s royal and cultural history.
Inside the palace, participants will explore the Chhatrapati Shahu Museum, which houses an extraordinary collection showcasing Maratha and Kolhapuri heritage, including:
- Royal costumes, arms, jewelry, and silver artifacts
- The magnificent Darbar Hall
- Stuffed animals from royal hunts (tigers and lions)
- Family portraits and vintage letters
- Stunning stained-glass artwork depicting historical scenes
These exhibits offer a rare glimpse into the life, vision, and legacy of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, along with Kolhapur’s royal past and hunting traditions.
After exploring the museum, we will stroll around the New Palace, capturing snapshots of:
